1st Edition copy The Handbook of Uganda published in 1913 and provides interesting details about Uganda’s geography, zoology, land and agriculture, mining, trade, tax, legal, etc. and is illustrated throughout with photographs and includes a foldout sketch map, at the back, of the Uganda Protectorate. Externally the book is tightly bound in black cloth covered hard boards, gilt lettering and decoration to the upper board. There are some minor markings to the spine and back cover and some minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, there is an owner's signature on the inside front cover and on the opposite page the book is signed with compliments from the author H.R. Wallis. A letter signed by the author is pasted below. Pages are clean with no foxing. On the inside of the back cover there is a note stating that "The solution used in binding this book has been specially prepared in order to render the work impervious to the ravages of insects".
