The book was republished in 2001 with the title Bitter Harvest: The Great Betrayal. In the book, Ian Smith attempts to explain the rationales for his political decisions and criticism of his political enemies, especially Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe. Smith also discusses several "great betrayals", especially that of Britain. He led the predominantly white government that declared unilateral independence from the United Kingdom in November 1965. Publisher’s original dustjacket over black cloth covered boards. Internally, the pages are clean and bright.
