The 1947 Royal Visit To the Union of South Africa - A commemorative souvenir of the royal tour and the Union of South Africa published to provide a view of the different people and places that the King and Queen, and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret would meet and visit on their tour through the Union. The tour lasted from February to April, 1947. Portraits of the Royal Family in the front and a map of the Royal Family's travel plan through the Union of South Africa and Rhodesia. These souvenirs were published in Afrikaans and English. This book is the more desirable English version with numerous period photos throughout. The endpapers for this publication were specially designed by the world renowned artist J. H. Pierneef. Externally, Original beige dust jacket with green titles over original red cloth covers with gilt lettering. The dust jacket has some tears around the spine ends and what looks to be some staining to the top right corner. Binding is tight with minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, pages are mildly tanned with minor foxing to endpapers. Photos provided reflect the condition in addition to the above description. Overall condition is good.
