A very good copy of this official handbook of Pietermaritzburg from 1924, issued under the auspices of the Pietermaritzburg Municipality and the South African Railways and Harbours. The grey card covers are in very good condition. The front cover title, Pietermaritzburg is in yellow with trumpeting elephants illustrated below the Zulu name “UMGUNGUNHLOVU”, which means the place of the elephant. The handbook includes period photos of some schools and places of interest. An excellent copy of this handbook in very good condition.
