Rare, first edition, hardcover, in very good condition. Coloured map of a Plan of Durban between pages 16 & 17. Between pages 106 & 107, is a foldout map of British and Boer positions during the Siege of Ladysmith. Large foldout map of Natal between pp226 & 227, which is torn at the fold. In a pocket, inside the back-end cover, is a large coloured foldout “Bird’s Eye Map of War District Natal”. There are numerous b&w photographic illustrations throughout. For collectors of Natalia this is a treasure trove of period information. Externally, the publisher's original green cloth with some age-related wear. Lower corners show some minor wear and some minor shelf wear to the spine endings. Binding is tight. Internally, period inscription “To Sister Agnes with your Brother John's best wishes”. Pages are clean, bright, unmarked and in excellent condition throughout. Photos provided reflect the condition in addition to the above description. Overall condition is very good
