First edition, very good condition. This hardcover book provides accounts of travellers/explorers who started from points south of the Equator, including explorers such as Diaz, Vasco da Gama, Paterson, Moffat, Livingstone, Galton and Andersson, Burton, Speke, Grant, von der Decken, Cameron, Stanley and Rhodes. The book includes 60 b&w illustrations, 30 of which are full-page. A very good copy. Externally, the publisher's original burgundy cloth illustrated boards with black lettering on a gilt background, on front board and spine. A few minor marks on the boards. Gilt page edges. Binding is tight. Internally, black endpapers with a prize plate on front endpaper. Pages are generally clean. Photos provided reflect the condition in addition to the above description.
