First edition, hardcover with dust jacket, inscribed and signed by the author, in very good condition. The book is about the life and work of George Cato, the first mayor of Durban and provides details on the history of early Natal and Durban, and its people and their way of life. Externally, the book has the original unclipped dust jacket over the publisher’s original blue cloth covered boards with silver gilt titling stamped on the spine. The dust jacket has some rubbing to the front and back and some wear to the extremities. Binding is tight. Internally, pages are very lightly tanned but still clean. On the front-end cover, the book is inscribed and signed by the author. Photos provided reflect the condition in addition to the above description. Overall condition is very good
