Rare limited edition of 250 of which this is number 5. Hardcover book printed on handmade paper and is rough cut. The book is a memoir of the Randlord Barney Barnato , with portraits and illustrations. The book details how he made his fortune on the diamond fields and the amalgamation of his mining company with Cecil Rhodes to create De Beers. The author interviewed Barney Barnato and provides a fascinating account of a larger than life character. Externally, publisher’s original binding with quarter white parchment, brown cloth sides and gilt top edge. Quarter white parchment is a little grubby and there is some white spotting to the spine. Some shelf wear to the extremities and some minor markings to the brown cloth sides. Internally, pages are clean and printed on handmade paper. Front endpaper has an inscription dated March 1948. Overall condition is Good
