A Souvenir of Natal, published by H.Doidge, Bookseller and Stationer, Pietermaritzburg Natal. A souvenir book with a collection of 46 rare, turn of the century, original sepia monochrome photographs of Natal. The book is undated but believed to be circa 1906. The book has images of Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Zulus, Kraals, the Drakensburg, Maritzburg College's Clark House, the Umsindusi river bridges, Howick Falls and more. Externally, publisher’s original brownish maroon coloured covers with page edges in gilt. There is some shelf wear to the extremities and a small insignificant tear to the base of the spine. The front cover has gilt titling with gilt flowers. Internally, the book is inscribed , "For Mother" on the title page. Some light foxing to the title page and margins. Binding is a little loose. This is one of only two known copies and is incredibly rare. No other copies traced for sale or on WorldCat.
